Rowan’s Law Day

Wednesday, September 24th is Rowan’s Law day. This law passed in Ontario in 2018 to honour the life of Rowan Stringer who passed away while playing high school rugby because she received a number of head injuries over a series of 6 days that were left untreated. Rowan’s Law helps protect kids who play sports or play active games in schools. At SES students are reminded to play safely and to ensure they keep their hands and feet to themselves at all times. This includes not contact while playing a sport.

On this day, staff and students helped bring awareness to concussion prevention and safety by wearing purple. To learn more about concussions visit Rowan’s Law: Concussion Awareness Resources and Parent’s Pathway for Child and Youth Concussion.
