As we near the end of May and look towards the month of June, we recognize that June is the month traditionally devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which for Catholics is a sign and symbol of God’s boundless and passionate love for all humanity. The Feast of the Sacred Heart falls on the Friday following the second Sunday after Pentecost, which this year will be on June 27th. Cardinal Leo, in his letter to the congregation, shares this reflection:
The Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us of our call to sacrificial, unconditional and generous love for others, for each member of the Body of Christ and the call for us to be the heart, the hands and the face of Christ to all those we encounter each day.
As children of God, we are reminded that each and everyone one of us is WONDERFULLY MADE, deserving of love, compassion, respect and understanding.
