Dress Code

In keeping with the distinctiveness of our Catholic schools, the York Catholic District School Board believes that a student Dress Code fosters: a sense of belonging and pride; a safe and respectful environment for learning and teaching; and a confident and positive sense of self and respect for the dignity and welfare of others.

At St. Elizabeth Seton, an appropriate dress code is in effect. With the warmer weather approaching, students are reminded and expected to dress for school in appropriate attire. Clothing items worn to school should reflect the increasing physical maturity of students and demonstrate a sense of modesty that is conducive for learning and is not a distraction to themselves or other students.

Muscle shirts, tops that expose stomachs (or are tied in a knot to expose stomachs) or hang off the shoulders exposing undergarments, are not appropriate for school. Students should not be wearing pajama pants to school. Short shorts are not permitted. The rule of thumb is that the edge of the shorts is closer to the knee. Students wearing inappropriate clothing will be required to change or parents will be called to bring a change of clothing. For gym, all students must be dressed in appropriate attire as per teacher directions. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
